Q: I bought a 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe without the 3rd row.?
I now want to install the third row. Who is the best qualified to install the seat? The dealer or any general body shop/mechanic? Are there any safety precautions I should look for? Any ideas on cost?

A: Tahoe’s all have provisions for a third seat. It has quick release devices built into the floor. The seats are made to be easily removed, so all you have to do is get the third seats (they are in two seperate units) and drop them into place.
Q: What happens when the battery in the new 2008 Chevrolet Tahoe Hybrid “dies”? Does it get recharged, replaced?
A: The batteries are designed to last for years, and to be recharged countless times, but like all batteries, eventually they will play out. But the same can be said for a conventional gasoline engine.
Lexus is the only one I’ve found that addresses the question of their recyclable batteries:
The batteries in all Lexus hybrid vehicles are under warranty for five years or up to 100,000km, whichever occurs first, for peace of mind. The HV battery should never get completely flat as the car’s computer is designed to constantly monitor the condition of the battery. In normal operation it does not allow a charge load of less than 40 per cent to occur.
When the battery’s charge level is low the engine activates the generator, and the resulting electricity is used to recharge the battery. Additionally, as soon as the brakes are applied the motors begin functioning as generators, also supplying the generated electricity to the battery.
If there is a severe battery failure or critical problems with the battery, the system shuts off automatically. Lexus Manager for Service and Parts, Mr Bob Dawes, believes the hybrid technology is as reliable as a conventional petrol-engined vehicle.

A: gross trailer weight braked (lbs) 4,500 and max payload (lbs) 1,835…assuming you have the 4,807 cc 4.8 liters V 8 front engine with 96.0 mm bore, 83.0 mm stroke, 9.1 compression ratio, overhead valve and two valves per cylinder LY2 that is…. lol and not the V6 or the hybrid that is.
Q: my 2002 chevrolet tahoe will not start sometimes.what is the problem?
every month or so it will not start.the security light is flashing
A: Usually it is because the key (which has a electronic chip in it) is either wet…or dirty…and isn’t making good contact with the system that reads it in the ignition. I had this problem once with a newer Durango (the key was wet)….so I ran a lit bic lighter across it very quickly 3 or 4 times and it worked like a charm.

im not really worried about the engine or anything– just safety- and the 2007 has 5 stars
and she drove a suburban for a year so shes fine with the big car thing. she really likes the tahoe and it has 5 star safety.
A: Only if he can afford to buy the gasoline for it. Expect to see gasoline prices from $3.50 to $4.00 per gallon by summer, and your average Tahoe will get 12-14 Miles per gallon.
Q: I have question about the sound system in a 1995 Chevrolet 2 door Tahoe?
I just bought it and it has a Pioneer stereo that is aftermarket but the speakers in the car are factory. I want a better sounding system. Do i need to replace the stereo and the speakers or just the speakers. Any suggestions. FYI, I am 41 and I listen to country music.

A: i changed out my rear deck speakers in my car and they sounded much better, when i changed out the head unit they sounded alot better. pioneer is a good brand, keep the pioneer stereo. get new speakers

4×10 is a little harder to find but i believe there’s an adapter to change sizes of speakers to something more common such as a 4 x6
Q: Will a 1998 GMC Yukon Grill fit on a 1998 Chevrolet Tahoe ?
I would like to kno if a grill from a ‘98 GMC Yukon will fit on a ‘98 Chevy Tahoe they seem like they will but i wanna kno if the bolt holes etc. will all line up tha tway i kno b4 i purchase the grill? thank you
A: You will need the inner and outer grille for the swap. The headlights and turn signals are the same parts between the two.
This is a direct bolt-on swap; no modifications required.
The grille from any non-W/T model GMC truck from ‘93-98 will work, as well as the ‘93-99 SUV. Prior to ‘93, the corner lights/reflectors had a difference design.
Q: Chevrolet Tahoe transmission problems?
I have a 1999 Chevy Tahoe 4D 4WD with about 140k miles. A couple months ago I replaced both shifting solenoids in the tranny and flushed all fluids after testing the check engine light with the OBD II tester, which told me that was the problem.
Now, the check engine light went back on a couple weeks ago and I’ve noticed some sputtering/rough gear changes/lack of power.
I used the OBD II again today and it told me the number 5 cylinder was misfiring. I took a look and by the looks of the white powder on the outside of the chords that I need new plugs, wires, rotar, and cap.
ALSO, I lost my reverse gear, and also lost my overdrive. At 65mph I’m stuck at 2700-3000 RPM’s which is alot higher than the normal 2000-2300.
So my question is… could it just be a stuck valve in the transmission or is it worse? I hear if you lose reverse your tranny is pretty much toast. Also, I got a few estimates for rebuilt tranny’s and the cheapest was 1200. Im a broke college student. HELP!
I made sure to keep it clean as possible when I switched out the shifting solenoids. Dirt isn’t the problem. All new fluids.
A: Well, it sounds like you need to get a tune up right away. As for the tranny, it could be the valves. If any trash or spec of dirt got into the valve body it would cause it to stick. If the tranny is done, you can smell it in the fluid. Smell the fluid on the dipstick. If it really smells roasted then the tranny is probably shot. If not then you know its most likely the valve body. If you have a way to pull the tranny, its possible to just replace the valve body. You just have to be extremely clean and careful when you do it. Also, you can rebuild the tranny. There have rebuild kits at most parts stores, like Advance Auto and other places like that. Its really not that hard to do. Just keep every thing really clean!!! I cannot stress this enough!!! Hope this helps.

Q: My 1999 Chevrolet Tahoe shifts VERY hard out of first into second, but ONLY when the car has been warmed up?
It is an automatic Transmission, and when it is cold it will shift PERFECTLY, but after I drive about 30 or more miles it will literally SLAM into second gear. All of the other gears are fine no matter how long I drive, this problem is only for shifting into second. What do you think that it could be?
A: you need some transmission fluid.
just pour a whole lot in there and you’ll be fine, i recently had this problem and i did the same thing and it was fixed.
your transmission is slipping.
Q: Chevrolet Tahoe with a cargo trailer, brake lights turn off the tail lights when pressed, anyone know why?
It has Four lights on the back, the brake lights work with the headlights off, when i turn on the headlights they work but when i press the brake they all turn off. I checked all the fuses I could think of
A: You have a bad ground circuit. When you hit the brakes, they ground by backfeeding thru the tail lights. This causes the tail lights to go out.
You should have a ground wire from trailer frame to the trailer plug. Then your truck shouid have a ground wire. If everything is wired to code it will be a white wire.
Q: I want to buy a jeep ASAP but can’t decide on a Lincoln Navigator or Chevrolet Tahoe, which is better?
A: well there is a pretty big difference between a jeep, lincoln navigator and a tahoe. well if it was me first i would throw away the idea for the jeep. so you got tahoe and navigator left. do you want more of a luxurious vehicle. if so then i would go with navigator. if you want more room and power then i would go with the tahoe.

Q: My 1999 Chevrolet Tahoe won’t start. It used to make a electric whiney sound when I first turned on the key.?
The last time that it ran I noticed that it made that same sound the entire time that it was running (the whiney sound) I am guessing that sound is the fuel pump, but I am not 100% sure. I just can’t figue out IF it was the fuel pump, why would it have run constantly that last time, and also could that have been the reason that it maybe burned up?!?!?!
A: Sounds like the fuel pump, Did you check your fuses?
